DISKÖNTROLLY SOCIAL

DISKÖNTROLLY SOCIAL IS A BAND OF CRUST PUNK/NO MUSIC, AS FAR AS IT CAN BE LABELED, FORMED BY A TRIO OF NONCONFORMISTS IN A COUNTRYSIDE TOWN OF THE STATE OF GOIAS, WEST CENTRAL BRAZIL,CALLED MORRINHOS (LITTLE HILLS) WITH NO SCENE,PLACE TO PLAY,  REHEARSE OR EVEN A INTERESTED PUBLIC, BUT THEY STILL RESISTING.
THE BAND IS: GILCELIO – VOCALS, TODD – GUITARS, WILL - DRUMS

Q1-Tell us about the band?
Hey, the band emerged in late 2009 or so when I started to change chat with TODD our guitarist, the guy already enjoyed some national punk and some punk 77  but I was fed up with underground, in disbelief with all and everything  and only wanted to do activism and get out of this shit of town, the I found out WILL was having drums lessons with a fucked up drums but good enough to make some noise. I told him about TODD’s idea but I wasn’t much interested . Therefore TODD convinced me to join it and I already had some songs written for a hopeful return of another band DISCÓRDIA, that I played when I lived in a neighbor town "Caldas Novas", as the return didn’t work out we start to work out the songs just guitar and voice until we got to play with the drummer on the most precarious rehearsal, with only a guitar combo , karaoke microphone that spoiled after a couple of songs the drums was all chipped and the cymbals cracked , no distortion pedal and this way lasted a long time, actually that period had been the most true punk phase in my opinion, we had the intention of making a more traditional hardcore punk sound, but over time the songs was becoming increasingly faster and heavier to be what it is today.

Q2-What led you to form a band in Morrinhos, (in the words of a local politician) a town "extremely conservative and moralist, " where you probably will not have a space to play?
Man i can tell it for myself, that exactly coz  Morrinhos is a town "Extremely conservative, moralist, conformist and  religious"  that I decided to send all it to take it up straight in the ass, in a direct, conscientious and fast way, this situation made me realize that if I did not do something myself, nobody would ever do. The fact that here is just about  Sertanejo (brazilian answer for country music),bourgeois, conformism and a bunch of bad things, including much NOTHING, from it  came the DISKÖNTROLLY SOCIAL three guys tired of the boredom of the country side and the hypocrite conformism of the local city rockers who are only concerned with getting wasted and stoned, discriminate against each other and adhere to any new trend if it gives them some profit, it helped us to be a band like no other that has been going around, dirty, fast and tough, so that people  who dont like us, like  even less hahaha, screaming in their  ears all that they do not want to hear, the truth about how to lead their mediocre lives.

Q3: What are the main themes of your lyrics?
Protests against the system and harm to others hehehe, always passing the message against any kind of prejudice established by man, against excessive consumerism, capitalism, the police, corrupt politicians, attacking religion and all of this with  protest and freedom of expression , the lyrics also express the idea of each one fighting for their freedom and never giving it up, do not be submissive and do not bow your head to those who impose superiority over you, always fighting for your rights consciously and always making yourself all that aspires well for your   life.

Q4-Do you have any influence off the scene anarcho punk/crust / hardcore?
Grindcore ,  Powerviolence and also serves us with enough influence hehehe, we enjoy music very fast and shouted to the extreme, using anti-music in protest, always shocking clean ears and people who think that good music has to be beautiful, romantic and lead to Jesus.

Q5 - You consider yourselves anarchists, you believe that an anti-commercial band with virtually no exposure, may be able to pass a message to our society? How?
Shit guy, actually I do not see much hope for this world nor in the human being, you know, and I think the trend is only worsening just turn on the TV, listen to the radio, read a paper that proves itself alone, society can only change if she wants it to happen and to mobilize in favor of it, but what I see there are only conformism and submission of living in a world controlled by powerful that manipulates the way they want to destroy what gives them life. I believe in anarchy in my life and the lives of the people I love, our intention was always aware who wants to be conscious not to impose anything on anyone, we get our idea for those who want to receive it with open arms and hoping that it is not when someone falls from the sky so you can do something, we do not want anyone to swallow what we say, but understand on his own to grow and live and not just to survive. Our proposal of anarchy is do it yourself,  and not do it for them, educate them but they do it for themselves.

Q6 Thanks, is there anything you would like to add?

Hey brother, I wanted to thank you for the space and freedom to say what the band is about and that no matter where you are, the city where you live or the society you live in, if there is anger inside you do not settle for anything that is established you, fight it!!! I want to tell anyone that the DISKÖNTROLLY SOCIAL is not just a band, but also a zine that is already in its fifth edition, will soon be leaving the sixth edition, with texts, poems, lyrics to our songs and informative content with plenty of protest, awareness and freedom of expression in favor of a more just, equal and free to all .Who want to download the DISKÖNTROLLY SOCIAL ZINE is available for download from this link ae. http://discorground.blogspot.com/
