Interview Bode Preto

After a while out, Insetus brings  an interview with Josh S. from the Death Metal band Bode Preto, that also include in the drums duties Adelson Souza (The Endoparasites, ex-Grave Desecrator) and is releasing its debut album Inverted Blood, already available on line on their page and soon on physical format on digipack by Läjä Recs/Death Noise Prod.(BR), CD on Ketzer Recs.(DE) and on tape via Goatprayer Recs (GB)

Q1 . When I first heard the EP 'Dark Night' I thought, this is amazing I have to have them in the next issue of the Insetu's Zine. Thanks for agreeing to participate in our zine, so can you tell us a brief history of the band ?

Great pleasure to know this, man. We started in 2009 under the name Soturnus Skullcrusher, which changed shortly thereafter, because there were other bands called Soturnus and we prefer it to be in portuguese. Although changing the name the band remained the same, myself on guitar and vocals, Junior 'Mortal Thrash' Oliveira on drums and Pablo 'Necroso' Erickson on bass. In 2010 we recorded the Dark Night, this year 2012 the guys decided to leave the band, so I was concentrated on producing the debut called 'Inverted Blood' that just got ready. During this process Adelson Souza (The Endoparasites, ex-Grave Desecrator) joined the band so we recorded the album as a duo.

Q2 . How was the recording of "Dark Night" and "Inverted Blood 'How does it work the songwriting process for the band?

For Dark Night we recorded the drums in a professional studio and the rest in my home studio, Inverted Blood was all recorded at my home. Adelson came from Rio de Janeiro, where he lives, and spent a week here. He slept in the same room where we recorded. It was a very cool experience because we gained much on being able to record without scheduled times as it would happen in a normal studio, at times recording until dawn. The composition is my part, of course during the performance, each player creates their own version as they play, as it is something very personal.

Q3 . In my opinion your music seems to be influenced by Death Metal, Hardcore and Black Metal, nevertheless what are actually your influences? Is there anything that influences Bode Preto besides music?

Yes what you said is true, I love bands like DRI, Rövsvett, Terveet Kädet, Rattus, Impurity, Blasphemy, Beherit ... but I like many different kinds of music. Actually everything around us has a sort of influence, even trivial things of life, but also movies, books, paintings etc ...

Q4 . 'Dark Night' was very well received by critics and public, not only in Brazil but also in the international scene, even having a song on the Fear Candy CD that comes monthly in the British magazine Terrorizer. Did you ever expect this reaction to your first release?

I did not expect, the Dark Night came out in 2010 and it was great to show 'our face', now we are with Inverted Blood, which for me is a development of what we started before. I am very honored when the old true Headbangers appreciate our work , but I also really like communicating with the younger bangers, who also have been in touch and enjoying our sound.

Q5 - Now that your debut "Inverted Blood" was released, after a long production process and since it was produced by yourself, you probably feel proud of the results of work in your hands, but how much are you satisfied with it? Is there something you wanted to do but could not for some reason? What are your expectations?

In this process of creation and production, for the first time while recording, what I originaly intent only increased, Adelson's drumming was better than I could imagine, there was also the participation of Fábio Jhasko (ex-Sarcófago). Sometimes you get to produce an idea and it dilutes with time, for different reasons, sometimes the recording schedule is not the best or the drummer has doubt about the beat, or the sound technician is annoying. This time everything was done in my home studio, which made us lose the technical part a little, but we gained a lot from the possibility of experimenting and knowing the right time to record. I'm quite pleased with the result so far, still waiting to see the pressed material in my hands.

Q6 . So what are the plans now? Tour?

We are with the new album ready and online in our webpage, for streaming and digital sales. Now in early November that stuff is going to Labels, to be replicated to Digipack, here in Brazil via Läjä Recs / Death Noise Prod., On CD in Germany via Ketzer Recs. and on cassette in the UK via Goatprayer Recs. In January Adelson will come back here for us to rehearse forsome shows in the Brazilian Northeast, the live bassist will be Junior 'Mortal Thrash' (in addition to being a drummer he is also a bass player), and after those first shows with this new formation, we'll try to play at the most places as possible, disseminating the 'Inverted Blood'.

Q7 .  Thanks for the interview, is there anything you want to add?

I thank you. I want to add that the debut has the special guest Fabio Jhasko (who recorded with Sarcófago the albums“The Laws of Scourge "and" Crush Kill Destroy "), he recorded 3 guitar solos and sent to us from São Paulo. This guy brought a quality of a travel on time with his solos, hehehehe besides being a great friend.
