Insetu’s Choice: Pussy Riot
My time to post here has been short lately and I have not
been able to post here every week as I was supposed, nonetheless I’m here again
with another band chosen by the insetu’s main head, Walkir, actually this collective
of girls is much more than just a simple band, they are freedom fighters, mostly
on behalf of feminism, but after they played few seconds of a song on a cathedral
(the most important in Russia, if that matters), they became enemies of the
Russian estate and are now accused of hooliganism (they did not destroy
anything or used violence).
“Feminism
is a mortal sin” is what one of the complainants lawyers, Yelena Pavlova, has
said against the girls on trial, “Would you want your daughter to behave in
this way?” or “violating the traditions of our country” is just some of the
arguments used on this twentieth first century trial. If they are considered guilty,
they face three years in jail and apparently over 99 per cent of cases brought
to Russian courts end in a guilty verdict.
Many would
argue that what the girls did was worthless, the court will sentence them
guilty, shut their mouths and that will be it, ), but has
been a while since a group of protester has bothered a government as they’ve
done, they’ve showed the world the totalitarian state Russian is now. Now is
time for all of us to do something as well then just complain.
